NCAAE Mission

The purpose of the North Carolina Association for Athletic Education (NCAAE) is to provide learning experiences for athletic educators, which will assist them in attaining and maintaining the knowledge and skills to provide optimum athletic education for their students.

Middle School Monday

In addition to providing top quality conference programming at the NCAAHPERD-SM annual convention, the NC Athletic Education Association joins with the NC Coaches Association to offer Middle School Monday Coaching Development Sessions at the annual North Carolina Coaches Clinic. This is a full day of sessions geared specifically toward middle school coaches. Even so, high school coaches are also welcome!

NCAAE Awards

NCAAE awards are presented at the NCAAHPERD-SM Convention in October!  Come and join us as we honor our award winners! We are very proud of them, and we know you will be too!

Nominations and applications for NCAAE awards are accepted at all times of the year, however the deadline is July 1 of the current year. Nominations or applications made after that date will be considered for the following year.

Please take a minute to think of coaches and athletic directors you feel are deserving of recognition.

Dr. Brandy Clemmer, LAT, ATC, EDD
President

Dr. Brandy Clemmer earned a Doctorate of Education degree in Curriculum and Instruction (2012), a Master of Arts degree in Physical Education (2000) and a Bachelor of Science degree in Athletic Training (1998) from Gardner-Webb University. Previously, Dr. Clemmer served Wingate University as the head athletic trainer for football and adjunct professor in the Sport Sciences department for five years (2002-07). Most recently, Dr. Clemmer was the Athletic Director and a physical education teacher at Rocky River High School in Mint Hill, N.C. At Wingate, Dr. Clemmer is an Assistant Professor of Sport Sciences in the area of Athletic Training. She and her family live in Matthews.


Ceaser

Dr. Tyrone Ceaser
President Elect

Dr. Tyrone Ceaser is an assistant professor at Wingate University, exercise physiologist, blogger, podcaster, and lover of nature. His research deals with: 1)novel technologies for assessing human movement, and 2) developing techniques and interventions to counteract the negative stress response in humans. Additionally, Dr. Ceaser loves teaching college students, and enjoys helping them determine their life’s path.  More importantly, he enjoy being a mentor to them,as well as other individuals. Currently, his time is divided between being a husband, father, researcher, professor, podcaster, and training individuals to be well, instead of just simply being fit. His favorite pastimes are reading (especiallyEmerson, the Apostle Paul, and James Allen), writing, and walking. As of August, 2015, Dr. Ceaser and his wife are also the proud parents of a newly born son, and reside in Gastonia, NC.

** The President and President–elect represent the NCAAE as voting members the NCAAHPERD-SM Board of Directors.


Kim

Dr. Ji-Ho Kim
Vice President

Wingate University

Dr. Ji-Ho Kim is an assistant professor in the Sport Management Program at Wingate University. He earned his Master and Ph.D at University of Tennessee. Dr. Kim has various sport experiences in Korea and the U.S. He played baseball in Korea as a student athlete, and worked as an instructor of various sports, including golf, fitness training, and swimming. Dr. Kim’s research agenda focuses on the following areas: (a) customized exercise benefits, (b) the economic impact of the labor migration on the American professional sport leagues, and (c) value of professional sport facilities as non-sporting event venue.He and his family live in Charlotte.

** The Vice President attends the NCAAHPERD-SM Board of Directors meetings as a non-voting official observer for the NCAAE.

    • The NFHS provides online courses covering content from all eight domains contained in the National Standards for Sport Coaches (NASPE 2006).
    • Registration is free and provides access to all online coaching courses. Currently, the Learning Center provides nine sport-specific courses, as well as "Concussions in Sports", "The Role of Parents", and "Sportsmanship" with more free courses to come.
    • The NFHS Learning Center offers coaches the opportunity to become nationally certified through the NFHS "Accredited Interscholastic Coach" certification program.
    • Coaches can also receive college credits and CEUS for online coursework.
