NCAAHE Mission

The mission of NCAAHE is to promote and encourage the advancement of Health and Health Education by providing a structure for the encouragement, support and assistance of persons interested in the development and conduct of effective health education programs in educational institutions and other community settings.

Health Education Awards

The NCAAHE awards are presented at the NCAAHPERD-SM Convention in November! Come and join us as we honor our award winners! We are very proud of them, and we know you will be too!

Nominations and applications for AAHE awards are accepted at all times of the year, however the deadline is July 1 of the current year. Nominations or applications made after that date will be considered for the following year.

Please take a minute to think of colleagues, teachers, administrators, college students and health education programs you feel are deserving of recognition. You can find a list of the awards and their criteria here.

Successfully Teaching Health Manuals for Sale!

The new manuals are available on USB drives at a significantly lower cost! Plus, you may order online, or send in an order form!

Successfully Teaching High School Health

Manuals include 7-step lesson plans, support materials, and technology for teaching all Clarifying Objectives in the new Essential Standards in Healthful Living Education. Materials are on a flash drive with up-to-date, medically accurate content, PowerPoints, Prezis, authentic assessment, and a skills approach to prevention of health risks for youth.

Middle School NC Tobacco Free Prevention Education

Teachers of Middle Grades Health Education are encouraged to complete the Tobacco Prevention Education Online Module offered by the NC Comprehensive School Health Training Center and sponsored by the NC Health and Wellness Trust Fund Commission.

Completion of the module and all assessments will allow participants to earn 0.4 CEUs and an opportunity to attend a regional face-to-face Project TNT (Towards No Tobacco) professional development workshop for an additional 0.6 CEUs.   This module may meet the needs of many teachers of health education; however, Certificates of Participation/CEU credit will only be mailed to NC middle school health teachers.

  • Step 1: Complete the four-hour online component first at www.nctobaccofree.org (you may work at your own pace!)
    • Need help registering? Contact Genele Byrd at or 828-265-8625.
  • Step 2: Complete a six-hour face-to-face classroom workshop in the evidence-based Project TNT (Towards No Tobacco).
